In the body, the only way in which energy is produced is through the oxidation or burning of glucose.

When we eat carbohydrates such as rice or bread, the enzymes in our mouth, stomach and small intestines will convert the carbohydrates into GLUCOSE, which is absorbed into the blood and carried to the cells and tissues.

In the cells, the glucose is oxidized or burnt in the presence of oxygen.

The result of this oxidation is the release of ENERGY. The other by products are CO2 and H2O which is expired out.

Thus, we can see that ENERGY can only come from GLUCOSE, not vitamins, not minerals

With prolonged energy use, when the glucose is nearly finished, FAT is oxidized to produce energy.
